Noord-Nederlandhydrogen ecosystem launches its own AI knowledge assistant

Hydrogen Valley Campus Europe (HVCE) today presents Aivy, an AI knowledge assistant specifically developed for the hydrogen ecosystem in Noord-NederlandThe public launch takes place during the Good Morning HyNorth breakfast, co-organized by Witteveen+Bos. Aivy is the first AI assistant in the Netherlands that relies exclusively on validated scientific sources and ecosystem knowledge regarding hydrogen and the broader energy transition.

Reliable knowledge instead of guessing

Unlike generic AI chatbots, Aivy does not generate answers based on the open internet. The assistant searches a curated knowledge base of scientific articles, technical manuals, policy reports, and project documents from the HVCE consortium of more than 50 partners. The original sources are listed with every answer, so users can always verify where information comes from.

The knowledge base automatically grows along with the ecosystem: new research results, updated policy documents, and recent publications are continuously processed. Outdated material is identified and deprioritized in favor of more recent sources.

The energy transition accelerates only if knowledge is available quickly and reliably. For the first time, Aivy brings together the entire knowledge base of our hydrogen ecosystem in one place. This is a breakthrough for researchers, but equally so for companies and policymakers who need to make informed decisions.

- Prof. Dr. Lorenzo Squintani, Professor of Energy Law and Director of the Wubbo Ockels School for Energy and Climate

From researcher to entrepreneur

Aivy is designed for the wide range of users in the hydrogen field. Researchers gain direct access to relevant publications and project data. Companies in the hydrogen value chain can quickly find answers to technical and market questions. Students are guided with validated sources, and policymakers find up-to-date data for regional and national energy strategies. The assistant supports both Dutch and English.

Partners within the HVCE consortium can implement a version of Aivy in their own branding, embedded on their own website. In doing so, each affiliated organization increases not only the reach but also the shared knowledge base.

Aivy is not just a chatbot. It is tangible proof that you can deploy AI as an accelerator of the energy transition, not by inventing information, but by bringing the right knowledge to the right people. And best of all: the system gets smarter every day, because it grows along with everything our ecosystem produces.

- Hielke Hekman, ecosystem developer HVCE

Privacy and security

Aivy is designed according to a privacy-first principle. All data remains within the HVCE ecosystem and is not shared with external parties. The system operates in compliance with the GDPR and anonymizes all conversations.

Aivy is available starting today via hvce.nl and is open to all visitors and partners of the HVCE ecosystem.
