Centre of Expertise Investa new partner in POCITYF
Centre of Expertise InVesta is joining the POCITYF project, a European project that makes historic cities greener, smarter and more liveable. POCITYF enables InVesta to equip their newbuild with the latest innovative technologies. The new construction at Boekelermeer industrial park (city of Alkmaar) started in November and is to be completed shortly after the summer. New Energy Coalition has been a partner in POCITYF from the beginning and is one of the founders of Investa.
POCITYF is a European Horizon 2020 project aimed at making cultural heritage cities more sustainable. In this project, 46 European partners from 13 countries work closely together to implement the so-called Positive Energy District (PED) concept. This concept means that participants strive to produce more sustainable energy than is consumed. Two so-called ‘Light house’ cities (Alkmaar (NL) and Évora (P)) and six ‘Fellow’ cities (including Bari and Granada) form the basis of the project. The two Light house cities will demonstrate various sustainable innovations. The six fellow cities are keeping a close eye on the developments. The aim is to apply them themselves, taking into account local conditions.
InVesta in POCITYF
Participation in POCITYF offers InVesta the opportunity to give the planned expertise centre an innovative and sustainable character that fits in with its business operations. Before participation in the POCITYF project, there were already plans to realise the expertise centre. The building would meet the BENG requirements that have applied since 1 January 2021, which means that the building must be (nearly) energy-neutral. By joining the POCITYF consortium, which paves the way for InVesta to use the latest, innovative and sustainable technologies, these requirements are completely exceeded. Instead of a (nearly) energy-neutral building, the InVesta expertise centre will be energy-positive and become one of the showpieces of the POCITYF project.
– José Miguel Costa | Project Manager POCITYF:
InVesta broadens the multidisciplinary character of the project by bringing in knowledge in the field of green gas. In addition, InVesta is taking the demonstration activities to a higher level by linking POCITYF to its future building.
The POCITYF project started in October 2019 and has a duration of 5 years. The total European grant budget for this project is EUR 22.2 million. This project has been co-funded by the European Union, Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under grant agreement no. 864400.
