Energy Valley

Together the provinces of Drenthe, Fryslân, Groningen and Noord-Holland Noord form the region with a strong concentration of Dutch energy production, industry and knowledge. The region is the national energy supplier with large-scale and decentralised generation and storage, at a favourable location with energy ports on the North Sea and at the heart of the Northern European gas and electricity grid. This fulfills a switching role as an “energy roundabout” for a stable Dutch and European energy supply. Here companies, knowledge institutions and governments have known how to find each other for many years. This has resulted in many collaborations and investments are made in new infrastructures, knowledge centers and innovative energy systems.
