Hydrogen Cross Border Conference 2026
The Hydrogen Cross Border Conference is an annual event that brings together professionals, policymakers, companies and knowledge institutions from the Netherlands and Germany.
The conference offers a platform for knowledge sharing, inspiring keynotes, panel discussions, and networking opportunities with experts and partners from across the hydrogen sector. The goal is to jointly build a strong, international hydrogen economy that contributes to the energy transition in the northern energy region.
March 11, 2026 - Maritime special
The first day of the conference will focus on the status quo and the future of hydrogen and hydrogen carriers in the shipping and port industries. How do we organize hydrogen supply for shipping? Which technology will set the tone: fuel cell or combustion engine? And what can we learn from the frontrunners in practice?
This day is organised in collaboration with Green Shipping Waddenzee and the Greenshipping Waddenzee Programme.
Highlights of the program:
- Keynote: Global development of hydrogen as a growth market and the impact on supply and price
- Panel discussion: hydrogen supply for shipping, via pipeline gas or decentralised generation and transport
- Technology in practice: the role of fuel cell technology versus internal combustion engines (ICE) in the transition to carbon-free shipping
- Pitches from shipping companies that sail with hydrogen-powered ships
March 12, 2026 - Conference
This year's conference focuses on the central question of how hydrogen will fit into the energy mix of the future and how we can develop regional value chains to ensure projects are actually implemented. The focus is on the challenges of the price gap, new business models, and concrete innovation opportunities for regions and municipalities.
Participation is free. The event will be held in German and Dutch.
