Launched: National Energy Dashboard
Recently, the National Energy Dashboard (ned.nl) was launched, an initiative of Gasunie, Tennet, the Dutch Sustainable Energy Association (NVDE) and the National Climate Platform (NKP). The dashboard provides insights and up-to-date data on energy generation, use and CO2 emissions and is a useful tool for the energy transition.
Importance for energy transition
The launch of the National Energy Dashboard is an important step towards a more sustainable energy future, as data plays a key role in making smarter use of energy. By being flexible with the supply of solar and wind energy, consumers and businesses can save costs and reduce pressure on the power grid. And if energy is consumed when the sun shines or when it is windy, we avoid unnecessary investments.
Free energy data for all
Ned.nl is a further development of the existing websites Energieopwek, CO2 Monitor and The Energy Weather Report. The historical, current and predictive energy data are downloadable and available via an API key. Ned.nl is thus freely accessible to everyone.
Energy suppliers can, for instance, use the energy data to give their customers insight into their C02 emissions. Data from ned.nl can also be used to inform decisions for a future-proof energy supply. RTL 4 and Weeronline are already actively using the data for their weekly energy weather report.
