Hackathon for sustainable drinking water
On Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 November students from vocational up to university level in the provinces of Drenthe, Friesland and Groningen will be challenged during a -online hackathathon: the FUTURE DRINKWATER HACK. In this innovation contest the participants will work in small groups on a practical issue. Energy College organises the hackathathon together with WMD (Watermaatschappij Drenthe) and WLN (Waterlaboratorium Noord).
The drinking water companies wrote out the assignment. Both companies work on clean drinking water in the Northern region on a daily basis. They want to do this as sustainably as possible. To achieve this they ask students to come up with a solution for two challenges. WMD’s question is: How do we make the energy consumption of our production location completely self-sufficient? WLN’s question is: How can we reuse residual flows?
These days, when students are less able to meet and many lessons are already given online, Energy College offers them a challenging project with which students can think outside the box. The hackathon starts on 18 November at 10:00 h and ends on 19 November at 17:30 h. A professional jury will announce the winning team with the best idea. Participants have a chance to win great prizes, there are workshops and a “mistery box” for all.
The organisation calls on the northern business community to make their expertise available to the participants and offer their support. After all, today’s students are the employees of the future.
