Making industrial estates with grid congestion sustainable
Grid congestion is hindering potential electricity generation on commercial roofs. To offer businesses the opportunity to switch to renewable energy sources, New Energy Coalition conducted a techno-economic analysis on the design of a smart, local, and affordable energy system. Energy storage, exchange, and control play a key role in this future-proof energy system. Last Thursday, New Energy Coaliton and its partners presented the concrete results during the final meeting, "Making Business Parks Sustainable in Areas with Grid Congestion."
Solutions for grid congestion
Various solutions were analysed for Spaansen Tuin- en Bestratingsmaterialen BV, Spaansen, Groot Techniek, Klaver Kaas, and FrieslandCampina at the Winkelerzand Industrial Estate to make their electrical and thermal (heating) systems more sustainable within the constraints of the electricity grid. Furthermore, the solutions were adapted to four business types to make the results more widely applicable to businesses both within and outside the Winkelerzand Industrial Estate.
