Implementation of Artificial Intelligence AI in the energy transition
Goal
The AI Hub Northern Netherlands (AI Hub NNL) aims to make the Northern Netherlands a testing ground for concrete applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI). To this end, projects on various topics, including ‘energy and sustainability’, will be developed. New Energy Coalition (NEC) is part of AI Hub NNL and is involved with other cluster organisations in the “ReactEU” project, which aims to jointly build knowledge and develop projects.

Description
Together with partners we build a roadmap for AI in the energy transition. This roadmap allows to identify knowledge gaps in this sector as well as knowledge institutes in the AI domain in The Northern Netherlands. By bringing the two sides together we can accelerate the energy transition through efficiency gains and smarter energy systems.
Examples:
- development of a prediction mechanism for imbalanced prices in cooperation with AI Hub en Repowered
- development of an algorithm for demand response systems in various buildings in cooperation with Sustainable Buildings.
Our role
New Energy Coalition has a supporting role in the development of a longlist with possible projects and in the development process of these projects. Furthermore we help to organise match making events to bring the key actors in the field together and facilitate the integration of AI in the energy transition.
