GZI Next Northstar
Development and construction of an industrial green gas plant on the former GZI site in Emmen as part of GZI Next.
Goal
Northstar is part of GZI Next to realise an industrial digester capable of producing about 40 million cubic metres of green gas per year from manure and (agricultural) residue streams. It will also produce about 40 ktonnes of bioCO2 and several hundred thousand tonnes of organic fertiliser.
Description
GZI Next Northstar produces green gas, bioCO2 and fertilisers, contributing to the energy transition, circular agriculture and greenhouse gas reduction. The project is a public-private partnership where governments and companies work together.
Northstar is part of the GZI Next project where, on the former gas purification plant site in Emmen, work is underway to realise a sustainable energy mix for the region consisting of green gas, solar energy and hydrogen.
Our role
The New Energy Coalition has been involved in this project from the very first brainstorming session, performing tasks in the communication, core & steering group and participating in the project team. Besides general project tasks, we are closely involved in the Human Capital aspects of the project.
