Van Gras Naar Gas
Dutch/German project on closing material and energy cycles on farms
Goal
Van Gras Naar Gas (From Grass To Gas) focuses on the future of sustainable agriculture and aims to identify the technical possibilities and processes that will enable farms to close their material and energy cycles. The insights and outcomes of this project will provide the basis for a large-scale Interreg project in the future.
Facts
Project duration: 1-9-2024 – 30-3-2025
Budget: €49.991
Grant provider: Interreg programme Deutschland-Nederland and programme partners; co-funded by the European Union.
Grant programme: Interreg Deutschland-Nederland
Grant number: 58
Description
Farms face a number of complex challenges: greenhouse gas and nitrogen emissions burden the environment and usable nitrogen disappears into surface and groundwater, resulting in a reliance on fertilisers. At the same time, bio-resources are released that are not yet sufficiently exploited. With this project, we enable farmers to make their own fertiliser, sustainably produce some of the energy used themselves and reduce greenhouse emissions.
Our role
The New Energy Coalition is the project’s coordinator and project leader, and is responsible for a large part of the Dutch research.
Partners
Provincie Drenthe, Hanze Hogeschool, Oldenburger Energie Cluster, Kompetenzzentrum 3N, Thomssen Lohnbetriebe, Wirtschaftsförderung Landkreis Aurich, Boerderij Ten Kate
