Our contribution to the energy transition

Our mission is to provide a substantial contribution to the energy transition based on breakthroughs that are necessary to break new ground. After all, if everything stays the same, nothing will change.

Scientific breakthroughs
Developing new knowledge for the sustainable generation, storage and distribution of energy as well as its application in processes and products. To this end, we drive, facilitate and support scientific and applied research.

Breakthroughs in industrial applications, processes and products
Traction emerges as businesses apply new solutions on a large scale, creating a competitive cost price for sustainable energy (applications). We see several themes as new solutions: system integration, North Sea, hydrogen, LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas), green gas and intelligent energy systems. To test new solutions in practice and ultimately bring them to market, we make use of (European) programmes.

Breakthroughs in people’s thinking and actions
A new generation of researchers and professionals needs to be educated to fully understand the energy system transition. That is why we collaborate with educational institutes and programmes like Energy College (vocational education institutes), Hanze University of Applied Sciences and University of Groningen.

Breakthroughs in innovation
A system transformation requires collaboration of knowledge institutions, the industry and government. We have experience in all these disciplines. In the (commercial) market we work with start-ups, SMEs and large(r) businesses. Open innovation is a must.

Our mission is economically and socially relevant to our partners. Our staff, the students and professionals are motivated by the opportunity to make a substantial contribution to a sustainable world for future generations.
